i graduate this spring with a degree in philosophy!!! this semester i am taking my senior seminar class and its focusing on aesthetics. i have since chosen digital photography as my medium. i know right, philosophy degree with a project in photography, but hey, whatcha gonna do. so, the intent of the project, and why im posting, is that i need to come up with a philisophical topic related to digital photography.

i am leaning towards the concept of photography as being a representative art, and by manipulation of the photo after the shot, we are infact altering the represented shot. or quite possiably the concept of art as somthing that is an elusive process, that not everyone can produce, and yet digital photography is at the hands of anyone with $100 in their pocket.

im reaching, but these are my initial concepts. any ideas or maybe articles related to digital photography as art or the aesthetic principles of digital photography, it would be awesome.

This thread belongs in another forum, but you might want to read this:

It has a lot to say about representation and manipulation.

i am also toying with the idea of photography for profit in contrast with the aesthetic concept of art (as somthing done for beauty and expression as opposed to profit)
