What do you pack your gear in for Air Travel?

Howdy,

I'm heading to Hawaii soon. In the past I've hauled my gear in a Domke F-1X, but its been a few years since I've traveled with my gear. In addition, I kept the bag under the seat in front of me. All in all it is a major hassle to haul my equipment. So I thought I would ask the question and find out if you folks had a better idea: What do you pack your gear in for Air Travel ?

In only travel with the minimum I will need so easy to take items in carry on including my small laptop. I use a Crumpler shoulder bag. I think it's oply a hassle if you overpack or try to cover every single eventuality. I'd rather relax and travel as light as I can.
