I got a new light for xmas, I already had a hot shoe adapter for the pc cord. I get everything set up and connected the light would not fire through the pc cord! I thought it was the cord from the light to the pc adapter... I brought works camera home and tried that cord in place of mine with my pc adapter and it works fine. Tried it with works pc adapter and my cord and it didn't work.. so I'm thinking I've got a bad cord. So I go out and by a new cord.. tried it yesterday and doesn't work! What's happening!!??? any suggestions or am I doing something wrong??

In order to get any meaningful answers, it would be very helpful to state make and model of the light, the cameras you are experimenting with, and the adapters you are using.

Sometimes the contacts in the hot foot of the adapter do not properly connect with the contacts in the hotshoe of the camera

You need to push the source of the problem one way or the other.
Connect the sync cord to the flash without a camera. Short out the PC connection on the end that would connect to the hotshoe adapter with some sort of small metal object, like a paper clip, to see if the flash will fire.
If the flash fires, then it is likely the cord is fine and there is a problem with the hotshoe adapter. Or, as Wilt indicated the fit between the hotshoe adapter and the camera's hotshoe it is mounted on.
You might also take a coarse and slight damp rag and briskly rub all of the contact surfaces on both the camera hotshoe and on the adapter foot (both center and side terminals) to make sure all the contact surfaces are very clean and amicable to conduct electricity.
Enjoy! Lon
