View Full Version : RAW to JPEG

I shot a HS basketball game this weekend, and did all of my work in RAW...later converted to 16 bit TIFF. I want to create a CD for some of the parents and because of file size and computer load times would like to save the images on the CD in JPEG rather than TIFF. My question is, how do I change them from TIFF to JPEG? I can convert them one by one using Elements or the Picture viewer on Windows XP, but with over 100 photos, this would take FOREVER! So, is there any way I can convert the whole batch at one time? I know an easy solution would have been to simply use the JPEG embedded in the RAW file, but at the time, I didn't plan on needing the JPEG's, so I dumped them. I am fairly certain that I am missing something really easy. I hope so.

How about running them all as a batch through Noise Ninja (which I already did once) and setting the output as JPEG?

AcdSee wil do it quite easily,.

But I think you can do a batch in Elements too,. in fact, you could even resize them to a more reasoble resoltion as well. Make sure you "save as" so the tiffs are not erased in the process.

CDS,

Thanks for the input. I have already copied the pictures to a separate folder (so I have 2 copies)...so I am not worried about doing the "save as" thing.

But, how do you do a batch process in Elements? I obviously know how to open and save one picture...but how do you do this with multiple pictures at once?

Sorry, but I have always used FVU for batch processing of RAW files and just use Elements to retouch individual pictures...so I have never had the need to work with more than one picture at a time.

Thanks!!

In PSE2 go to File>Batch Processing. I think that is what you are looking for.

Scott,

Thank you very much for your reply. I actually figured it out on my own before I read your posting. You are correct. Under the file menu, there is a "batch processing" heading. From there, you can choose which folder you want to process, what type file/quality you want to transfer to, and you can specify the output folder. It was very convenient...I only wish I had known about it earlier. Thanks again for your help.
