D60 in stock?

There is a company called A & M PhotoWorld that lists the D60 for 1,899 and says its in stock. I just called them and the guy assurred me they had them in stock and could ship it out today. I'm very hesitant from ordering from a company that I don't know especially when it seems too good to be true. (http://amphotoworld.com/product_detail.asp?sku=cneosd60).

Does anyone have any experience with this company?

I would be very sceptical myself. First, for that price I would pretty much bet it would not include the charger and battery (other places have been pre-ordering those types of systems already). Second, from what I have heard, systems like that are not available to ship especially considering the backlog of "normal" D60s there is. Granted, I am not in the camera industry and things may not be quite what I have heard, but I would be sceptical.

Thanks Karl. I had already decided against it but its great to have backup of my decision. I guess I'll just wait. I went ahead and ordered it from bhphoto which I've heard good things about but also felt a little concerned ordering from them. The guy told me it would ship in two weeks (don't quite believe that). The thing that really bothered me was that they charged my credit card immediately. I didn't think they were suppossed to do the charge until they shipped the product.

Don't worry about B&H. They're very reputable. I shop there all the time in person.

I decided to preorder with Ritz since they're a nationwide chain and will likely get more units in than B&H which is a single store (albeit a very large one).

I'm actually not sure if it is better to order with a large retailer or not. A larger retailer will get more units but also have more people waiting for them. (Especially since Ritz has been running a lot of D60 preorder ads on various sites.)

In fact, I called a small camera shop about 60 miles south of where I live and they had 3 that were supposed to arrive. I two weeks ago and am first on the list! I am hoping that even though they are small, Canon might send them one or two soon. They did get one on the initial wave so its not too unlikely.

Yeah, I took the chance with the larger chain. I think it's a case of "six of one, half dozen of another" when comparing smaller and larger stores, but even here in the Metro NYC area, the smaller shops give you a funny look when you mention the word "digital" and "photography" in the same sentence.

Either way, I'm drooling profusely in anticipation.

Well, it looks like the small store won out! I got a call today from my local photography store that my D60 was in. I dropped what I was doing and ran down and picked it up. I also grabbed the 28-135 IS lens. I am a very happy camper right now.:)

does anyone know if 1 Stop Camera is reliable? i just ordered D-60 from then and they tell me two - four weeks. They don't charge my credit card until they ship.

kit on backorder w/ adorama...they do not bill until product ships.
