So I recently recieved my 70-200, and decided to go for a drive to find something to take some photos of. I came across a group of people racing quads and bikes on the ice. I wasn't quite sure where to post these (transportation or motorsports) so here they are. I didn't get many that came out that great, but it was my first try panning. Please share any thoughts, or tips for panning for my next attempt. I had a great time taking these despite not having any gloves, it was pretty breezy and cold out on the ice.

Top ones definately the best for a couple of reasons - a) the crop is a bit tighter and b) the bike is leaning over a bit for the corner which adds action. I've taken squillions of mx shots now and have found the ones where a rider is just riding straight past are usually boring so now I pretty much stick to corners and jumps!

Either from outside the corner or inside..of course we don't want to get too hung up on blurred wheels! sometimes a frozen moment can have even MORE impact and you WANT a fast shutter! ;)

Pretty good panning shots. Takes a lot of practice to get it right and know exactly what shutter speed to use.

I love how close you zoomed in on these shots. just at the right spot, not too close or too far away. also i like the blur you have in a lot of the shots. No. 6 is awesome!

I know how hard this is.

I like the sense of movement in 4 and 5. Intense colour makes up for no sharp focus which I do not think detracts from the image in this case.

Last one is a corker - pin sharp; just the right DoF; perfect timing, before that hand makes contact; is that panic or concentration I sense behind those goggles!!!

Hey guys please don't critique my shots here! they were just posted to illustrate my suggestions to BGrounds! Lets keep comments and tips to his shots lest his thread get hijacked!
