OK. Many of us are patiently waiting. When the batteries have a full charge, have you thought of where you will take it first?

Someone is going to have to create some larger smilies :D on that day!

I don't know about the folks that have a MKII on order, but if I had one, the first thing I'd shoot is the dude who tried to grab it from my hands

Hehe...Ain't that the truth.
So, back to reality here. What will I shoot first. I want to find something shiny and chrome. A Harley or a carshow if one's available. Depending on when I get it is what will decide that. I haven't really though about that much. I'll probably end up shooting another shot of one of my cats first as they're always handy.
I could always take a few shots of the TT if it's clean that day. One thing I am looking forward to is shooting the windsurfers and using my 100-400 and the 1.4TC and not having to tape contacts for AF.

No, that's what the Smith & Wesson is for. ;) The camera is for the crime scene, afterwards.

Ducks..... it's gotta be ducks. NOT!!
I'll probably go to the airport and do airplanes. It is one of my favorite subjects.

Yeah, that's not a bad idea. I have PDX (Portland International Airport) and PIR (Portland International Raceway) just two miles from each other. I should be able to find something at one of these two places I'd think...
I had a dream last night I woke up checked my morning email and had an email saying my MKII was on the way.
Not all dreams come true...
Soon though. I can feel it...

Given the fact that I have 2... count 'em 2 Black Labs, I might have to try to try the same test found on the Canon site. Anyone have a nice white hurdle for my pups to sprint up to and jump over?

Here is my 2cents if you wish.
I think the first thing you should shoot would be the Box it came in (shipping box also). The stuffing the box had to make sure the camera came in safely. The shipping label witht the arrival date clearly shown. Then take a pic of your checkbook to remember the amount of money you had before and after you bought the camera. That is kind of what I shot when I got my DREBEL.

I am not waiting for the battery to charge. I figure I got at least 1000 foot worth of orange extension cords to plug the ac adapter into. That will get me to the baseball park, fromthere I will find a plug and then real in the 1000' from my house and then travel between the 4 baseball fields.
Am I screwed up or what?

My first shot will probably be very interesting impressionist downwards composed floor shot with part of my right foot in it because I'm not used to have such sensitive a shutter release button :)

We ought to have an MKII first shot contest.

I'm up for any contest. Just make sure that none of you DROP it rushing to USE it. Could you imagine? I would head for the closest bridge.

I'm not in a big hurry. I just hope to get a picture of the FedEx truck that delivered the Mk II as he pulls away from the house.
Perhpas IanD can give me pointers on how to take a good picture of the rear of a truck.

Good grief yes! It'll be interesting to see how fast they come in and if we all get them say in a week's time or so. If it's all stretched over a month or two then that'd suck to try and do a contest. Something to keep in mind anyway for grins if nothing else.

In anticipation, I have just learned how to post pictures to the site (see PBASE Experiment in the appropriate forum). Now, if April would just hurry up and get here!

I was going to take a chance on ordering a 1DmkII from them and take a picture of the calender from the time I order to the time I receive one! ! !

I am off to Berlin at the end of next week (first time back since there in the Army in 1978) Was hoping to have the MkII by then, but now resigned to taking the D60. Mind you the last time I was there I had a couple of Pentax MX.
Fingers crossed XXXXXXXXXXXX

Yep you're screwed because if there's a plug at the baseball place why bother with the extension cords ;D.

You guys need to savour this feeling. I had a superbike ordered for 8 months before it came in. It was the 78th one off the line and there were only 1200 in the country for a year. The Honda RC51. It was like being a kid again. Like Christmas. Anyway, I finally got it. I still love it but now alot of people have them and the major thrill is gone. Enjoy it. Enjoy it. Enjoy it!!!
