Hi All, I would like to get into videography more. I would like to purchase a Canon XL-1 to videograph bands and weddings. To do this, I assume the standard lens that comes with it wont be good for the low lighting, or would it? How do you guys feel on the Canon XL-1 1 as a wedding and band- concert video camera?
thanks.

I think you're going to find we're mostly still photographers here. I use the Canon GL2 for my pro videography. I think the XL is overkill for what you're planning to shoot.

Good, lol, less money to spend. How is the GL2? How would it react with Low light situtations?

It's very good in low light. But, as with any digital sensor, the better the light you have, the less the noise.

i'm a videographer (well an animator/editor), and have been working in this field for about 8 years, and photograph is my hobby. The XL1 is a GREAT jumping off camera, but for the price you'll pay, you can get yourself a panasonic dvx100 (or dvx100A or B)... for a very similiar price and also get the great functino of shooting 24fps. this obviosuly changes the whole game once your shooting in 24p, and amoung the controls the dvx A and B allow you to have are so incredible, itll look like film. Also lighting and 35mm adapters can be thrown into the whole game! theres so much, anyways my first true web forum can be used for an ample amount of information! Cheers
