I had a chance to go out and shoot a hockey game tonight with my XTi and 200mm 2.8 L lens. All I had to do was to search this forum and I found a wealth of how-to information. Thank you for being willing to share useful information, like settings so newbies like myself can expect success!

The hockey shooters here have helped me a bunch as well. You've got to post some pictures - it's like handing in your homework ;)

You are quite welcome, even though I think most the info you obtained came from DavidEB as he has posted alot of his shooting experiences on here for us to steal!

Now get out there and shoot and show us your shots!!!

Here are a couple of pictures. I ran them through Noiseware standard and that cleaned up the noise a lot from using ISO 1600. This is really the first time I've shot at 1600 and I wouldn't have done that without everyone advising it. I would have missed the entire game!

second one is a finely timed capture - you can just feel his frustration at missing the puck.
