Is there anyone out there successfully blending images with PS elements? I tried using the Layer Mask technique described in the article below, but can't find the Layer Mask pick in PS Elements. Does it exist? If not, is there a workaround?

Like you've already discovered, PS Elements does not have layer masks..... :(

To be accurate, Photoshop Elements does have layer masks and is happy to let you manipulate images that already have layer masks. What it won't do is allow you to create a layer mask. One possible way round the problem is to find an image file that happens to have a layer mask and then resize and paste images into it. Free applications that produce layered psd files with masks are thin on the ground, but Panorama Tools (partnered with Hugin) is one such. Hardly a convenient solution, but it does work.

if it has layers and supports transparency on layers just do the following.
1. open your first image.
2. open your second image.
3. drag one image on top of the other one so it is on a new layer.
4. Using the eraser, delete the parts of the top layer that you don't want (where you want the bottom layer to show through).
5. that's it.
