Attended a local gymnastics meet with another POTN member (Lacks_Focus). The pictures below are of his daughter whom I thought did great.

The gym was horribly lit with flourescent lights which made taking pictures very challenging. It did not help that we were very limited in where we could stand/sit to capture the images.

Ahhh..welcome to my nightmare! I spent Saturday doing the same thing!

Awful lighting, horrible backgrounds, no access....other than that, an easy venue :)

I think these are well done....The first must have been a pretty heavy crop as the noise is creeping up, but otherwise a great effort. Nice work.

Matt,

Gymnastics is tough, and these are some great shots. The one thing I would say about #1 is that I think it's actually cropped a little too tightly--it's difficult to tell whether this is part of a floor routine or something else (almost looks like it could be a bar release). #2 is a great capture! What lens were you using the most?

Matt. Those look great! I am still working through mine. I have almost the exact same shot as #1. I guess it helps that we were standing a few feet apart! I'll post some of mine when I get home. Thanks for coming out. Gym meets are like that. Hours of waiting, with about 10 minuets of your "target" actually doing something... This one was shorter than most because there weren’t too many level 6 and 7 girls. The beam pics look good. It will be a nice mix with those added to the head on perspective I took standing on that refrigerator (which I had to get off once because they needed an ice pack:oops: )!

Nice pics, I too was at poorly lit meet this weekend and the layout wasn't so great.

What lens were you using? The images look similar to the meet I was at in Baltimore County, just wondering.

3 and 4 are great. Just a few missing toes. Good stuff. Cheers
