I was thinking of getting one of these as opposed to what I take to be Hoya's standard cir-polarizer. What do you think?

And also while I'm here...as I'm soon to be touring around the USA for a few months & as my wife has hinted that I might be able to treat myself to a lens or two, which retailer over there generally in your view gives the best service, advice & I suppose best deal?

Thanks.

I don't understand warming filters on a Digital. Just take RAW and change the White Balance or Tint it. And what if you don't want warming, but just polarization? So you need a MooseFilter and a regular cir-pol.

MooseFilter?

A Warming Filter and a Circular Polarizer all-in-one. Saves stacking 2 filters to end worrying about vignetting if you wish to Warm & Polarize a picture.

Where in the USA? I'd stop at B&H in New York - big store.

Maybe a better question - what city is your first stop? Someone around here may know the best store in that area.

Why don't you list the major cities you plan to visit and about how long you plan to stay? Maybe some of the forum members would be willing to spend some time showing you good places to photograph if you are in their area. If you plan to be in the Atlanta area, let me know and if you have time I'll be glad to do some shooting with you if I'm going to be around.

Thanks very much for your kind offer G3 & yes if we do happen to be in that area I may well take you up on that offer - although there would have to be clothes shops near by to keep my wife occupied! :)

The main city where we'll be spending a good deal of time is San Francisco as I have family there. Apart from that we're hoping to visit most of the major cities during what promises to a fantastic next 6 months!

As far as the moose filter that I originally asked about I decided to purchase a standard cir-pol to be used as & when I feel it might benifit a shot - apart from that as it's been suggested below I'll do any adjustments in PS. I have just got hold of PS7, does this version have the warming filters that mwinog2777 mentioned in PS CS?

Thanks for all your help.

I think the filters are available as plug-ins for PS7...??

Yeah, we can send the wives off shopping together...that would allow PLENTY of time for photography. :)

Its true you can still get a warming filter in photoshop. Some people like to check out their shots live or something of the likes. But If nothing else a good polarizer would be recomended.
