I noticed that Sigma4less has both of these lenses identically priced. Obviously the 180 has more working distance, but it's also a half a stop slower and 4cm longer. Are there any merits to buying the longer macro? I plan to use whichever one I buy also as a general telephoto, so I do need decent focusing speed, which seems to be a common rant among 180 owners on FM. Does anyone have personal experience with these two lenses? My local store does not carry EOS mount Sigmas, so testing is out of the question.

I love fast lenses, and I'm not sure how much of a difference the 30mm would make either when shooting macro or telephoto. I do plan on using teleconverters and extension tubes.

I think the 150mm has a working distance of 38cm and the 180mm has 46cm ... here's a thread which may help you:

Going by photozone the 180mm appears to be slightly sharper but it is slower and heavier.
