Love to hear feedback. This was shot at f2.8, poor lighting. Hoping to pick up a 35mm f1.4 or a 50mm f1.2 Canon L series for my gym shots. Love to hear what people think regarding either lens. Thanks.......

Photoshop is my friend. Lots of patience and a good tripod.

This is nice! I really like the perspective of this angle, and think it's your best one yet.

As for the lenses, I'm wondering if the 35 or the 50 will be long enough? I know the additional f stops are great, but can you get close enough to the action to make these lenses viable? For instance, I love my 85/1.8, but there are only a few events at a few gyms where I can use it because it just won't get me close enough (I don't have professional access--I'm just a dad with a camera). I've been using my 135/2 more and more, and certainly the 70-200/2.8 when I can (which actually isn't that often--I think that 2.8 is the bare minimum for most local gymnastics). So...I guess my opinion is that the 35 or 50 would be great additions to your lineup, but ultimately wouldn't be that useful for gymnastics due to their length. Hope this helps.

I use the 85 quite a a bit for gymnastics....but I will go right out on the competition floor for vault, bean & bars. I have used the 50 successfully as well. The 85 f1.8 is my favorite lens so far and it's inexpensive.....

This was shot with a 24-70mm f2.8. The shot was taken wide open at ISO 800. This was one of my earlier shots, and I didn't want to risk the quality of the shot at 1600 or 3200 as it eventually was printed at 20" x 30". I now typically shot at whatever it takes to get a shutter speed of 1/320 or faster, even if I have to go to 3200 ISO and under expose the shot. Locking down the feet blur has become more important to me now. That is why I'm considering an f1.4 or f1.2 lens. I'll get to where I need to be in the gym (coach). Thanks for the feedback.

that pic was taken at 1/320? Seems like a lot of blur for that shutter speed.

This shot was not taken at 1/320 th. I now try to only shot at that speed or better even if I have to take a hit on my exposure.

WOW!!! Isn't it dangerous to have 11 girls all vaulting that close together?? It's cool how they all wear the same leotard though. ;) Nice work!
