It's that time of year here in NorCal....the rainy season.
NASA held their season opener and it was wet all day long. One or two dry spells, but only for a couple of minutes.
There is a nice variety of cars at these events and a lot of them, so there is always something on track:

nice variety, I've got to make it up to infineon one of these days. Great shots especially considering the conditions.

Infineon is enough work in the dry... I can only imagine what a handful it would be in the wet!

nice work on number 3! looks like you got a little goober on the sensor though, you might try to spot that out in post processing.

nice work, I really like number 3. the mist behind the car is a nice way of drawing attention to the car.

Thanks for the comments everyone :D
Infineon is a fun place to shoot, but it is even more fun to drive! Highly recommended if you get the chance.

Jeff,
Which club is NASA?
Were you down by the track? Most of Infineon is too far away from the track to get good shots from what I heard. I have been there once back in 98. Where were you shooting at? Are there more than once good shooting locations for us regular Joes?

I walked around pretty much the whole track. A few of the head on shots were from the exit of turn 10 in a credentialed photo hole. The rest of the shots were from spectator areas. There are good spectator shots to be had at turn 1, 2, 3a, 4, 6, exit of 7, 8, 8a, and 9. These don't all have the best backgrounds and having a longer lens helps at a few of these spots (I shot with the 100-400 that day). A lot of these end up being pan shots, but you can get away with a shorter lens for those type shots.
As already posted: http://www.nasaproracing.com/ is the club that was there. They are smaller and much newer than the SCCA. They have fewer classes to race in but what they do have, really encompasses a lot of different types of cars and modifications. The also do HPDE (High Performance Driving Event) or track days for the regular guy who wants to get his car on the track. Plus they have added time trials, which I think is also open to street or race cars. Of course classification depends on modifications. It's a nice club to be involved with but it does not offer (at least at this point) the same level of competition as the SCCA. They (SCCA) have just been around for so long and are so well established that it makes it difficult for some other club to get in on the action.

agreed, NASA is basically a msaller SCCA. It seems to me that they are also more willing to "try" out new ideas and different types of racing. If you can present them with enough cars they are willing to make a class for it, pretty cool.
