According to a the article I read off of http://www.robgalbraith.com/ regarding CF cards and the 10D- I guess the SanDisk Extreme 1GB would be the best? Am I correct in that assumption? Also, what is the difference between the SanDisk's "Extreme" 1G and their regular CF 1G?

Is the extreme the best card. Very subjective. It is currently the best performing card on the market (newer and faster have already been announced). The San Disk Ultra II has the same read/write speeds. The extreme is designed for extreme temp's, hence the name (-13 to 185 deg/F). The 10D and D Rebel will not take advantage of these speeds. I believe only the 1D/1DS can and not sure on the new 1D Mark II.
Also how do you connect to the PC? With the camera cable or card reader? This will be a factor as only a card reader that uses USB 2 will again take advantage.
The basic difference is speed. The Extreme has a 10MB/s read and 9 MB/s write speed while the regular CF card has a speed of 2MB/s.
Depending on where you will be shooting and if you can't wait long when transferring the pic's to the PC will determine what you need.
