Closeup of an Arkansas Quarter. It looked clean and shiny before I took the picture, believe me! I will never take a macro of a coin again.
100-400 L IS @ 400mm + 68mm of extension tubes + 500D

My micrometer measured the mallard at 10.1 mm tall.

Nice close-up, though softer lighting might have eliminated some of the roughness.

Yes, I agree.
I should have mentioned that this was just an exercise in what can be done with a rig like this.

Nice photo Scottes. I can't seem to find too many of the new quarters. I really need a good macro lens and some newer quarters that are clean...

That set up will really get you in close! Now try for bug eye with a goose reflected in it!!
