I don't use it and hadn't heard of it until now, so I took a look at it.
I don't like the search result pages much. They list 10 of whatever you're looking for that are in your area, and list another 8-10 that are sometimes hundreds of miles away (now that makes a lot of sense...not).
It looks like you can sign up for free (is that why there are Google ads?), but then why is there a "Buy Now" button that takes you to a Google checkout for a $20 vendor deposit?

I use it and have gotten a few referrals. Most of them have been price shoppers, though, so no bookings yet. And you have to buy the referrals for $2 each. Nothing is free. :)

I think they're a hoax. I bought several leads, and the "clients" visited my site, but 90%+ were viewing from outside the state or even country.

I'm not making things up, and reported my findings to wedplan and received a generic response and no refund. I saw what I saw. Many leads purchased, none viewed from anywhere local, and worst none even responded no, I just never heard from them.

its them, their "abuse team" sent me a not so happy email a couple minutes after this post, months after I emailed them about the issue. Originally they just denied the claims, now they're offering $4.10 back, wow. I wasted atleast $30 with them.

I've been with them since August or Sept., and have gotten 3 bookings through them. I've only spent less than $30 so far. That's not to say that some of them are fake, though.
BTW, I don't advertise on it, I've just purchased some of the leads.

cool thats its worked for you. That was what I was trying to do, but if I log on even 1 minute after the lead is emailed to me it already said 10 or 10 responded, so the only way in my area for you to get a lead was to pay per day, which is a rip off

There are so many factors involved in the success/failure rate of any online referral service that the success or failure of one studio cannot be used to measure the potential for another. For example, how may other photographers are on the site from the same geographical area? How is the studio pricing compare to that competition? How does the studio follow up and how does their own web site look? What I can say in generalization though is that in my experience all these referral sites are populated mostly by price-shopping brides. Look at the logic; if the bride is looking for her vendors online and not calling the studios she wants to interview then she is looking for a "generic" photographer and therefore the price frequently becomes the deciding factor.

I do understand this Rick, and I was pretty leniant at first with them, hell I used up my first credit and bought more with them.
But when all the "couples" are viewing from outside your own state and some even the country? Then you don't hear back either on their automated response system or from the phone calls and emails you send, not once? Pretty fishy to me.

They have been a dead source for us too. I've been trying several different online sources for over a year now. That one, didn't matter if I had the premium account or the free leads, it never got me 1 paying gig. I'd like a refund too...

I have used WedPlan for a coule of years, using their free listing and their premium membership. I have probably booked over 20 weddings from them in 2 years. Well worth the $2.00 per lead.

I certainly don't know who this Davy-Kelly person is but being called less than honest by someone who doesn't have the slightest idea who I am is certainly childish and rude at best.
I have used WedPlan for a long time and at $2.00 a lead I have booked over 20 weddings from them. So far I have 4 booked weddings from them this year. My web site is http://craigbybeephotography.com for Davy-Kelly who thinks you know who I am and what you are talking about. I am a full time photographer making a nice living at it. Are you doing as well?
Being that you can post whatever you like on the internet without knowing what you are talking about makes it easier for those with less knowledge to appear knowledgeable. I know what my experience with WedPlan has been, I book over 40 weddings a year and along with my web site they are the only form of advertising I use.

I'll probably let my ad lapse with Wedplan. While I have actually talked to a real bride about a potential booking, I'm getting better response from WeDJ. I'm also listed on Google and Yahoo as well as Respond.com. Now if I could just figure out how to get my pro website up and running, I'd have it made.

I have used Wedplan.net for more than a year now. We've booked at least three weddings directly from Wedplan.net leads in the last 12 months. In all three of those cases, a qualified bride contacted us after we sent out an introductory email. We've never sent an inquiry more than one email, and we've never called an inquiry. Using Wedplan.net with this soft-sell approach has been effective for us.

Those of you that had luck with WedPlan - are you in major cities? I must have dumped over $50 in the last 3 months - even wrote and article. Not 1 lead booked. We travel cross country as well. Still nothing. Then when we called brides, they werent sure why we were calling. AllWeddingPlanning has that same issue. It seemed the capture of info didnt click that people would purchase their info and call them.
No luck with either of them.
WeDJ and a few others drive traffic to the site. Google Ad Words has generated leads & bookings.

thanks for bumping this, I got a check in the mail today and had no clue who it was from or why I got it. No letter, just a check. But its wedplan being true to their word and refunding me for the left over balance, but not for the money waste with them.

Firstly, everyone certainly has the right to express their opinions, whether pro or con, based upon their personal experiences and what they believe to be true for themselves. As owner of “Personalized Wedding Videography & Photography” in New Jersey, my experience with WedPlan.Net is a very positive one. Were it not so, you would be reading an entirely different report. Thus far for 2007 I have booked 5 weddings through wedplan.net. At $2 a lead this is an incredible ROI.
I reply to all new leads immediately by e-mail with a subject header that it sets me apart from my competitors, along with a tried and proven personable e-mail text that elicits positive response from most -not all-but most of the brides2b I e-mail.
I then follow up with a telephone call (since most provide their phone number) Pricing, quality of work are all crucial factors, but most importantly always keep in mind that while there is a business transaction involved, weddings are a very delicate and emotional event and you need to show your sensitivity to this in your dialogue with prospective clientele. You must know how to use a tool properly to benefit from it. WedPlan.Net is a great lead source!

I have no idea, I open the can of worm! My original question was I want to know other input about WedPlan.net I just want to know if it work for other and which, when, and where
WedPlan.net work the best. From my point of view, it doesn't work for me. My friend told me to that it might be a shopper place for shopping price list and you can use it to get idea how other photographer in your filed price and marketing and sales technique. possible? yes! I want to do the same (deep in my mind I love to know how other photographer in my area marketing themself YES) but NO! i just don't feel right to go under radar like that. I still have $8 on my account with them, so i will try again see what come out from that. For me advertising, only 20% actually come back to you, if it more hey! take it. I have to tell everyone thank you for input and extra! LOL... we all need to share our experiences to help each other and that's how i see this forum.
thanks guys

I hadn't heard of them until I saw this post get bumped up. I asked some of my fellow wedding photog friends about it. The overwhelming response was "lesson learned". None of them had booked a lead through WedPlan.net. They said they've gotten more bookings through Facebook and MySpace then they did through WedPlan.net.
Now awaiting another member that has recently joined and has less than 50 posts since they joined to chime in with praise for WedPlan.net........

Well. I have figured I would invest the $20 min and so far bought about 5 or 6 leads and while I have gotten some responses from a couple of brides I have yet to book anything through them. I am in a pretty rural location so all the weddings for me booked through them would be a couple hour drive at least, so that may have something to do with it. But hey, I have wasted 20 bucks on worse things.

Greg,
I am in the same boat as you. I figure I would give it a try and invest $20. I also live in a rural location so some of the leads that I've come across are at least 100 miles away. So we will see what happens, still have around $18 in my account.

I have been told that brides that shop these sites are price shoppers more than looking for any particular style photographer. One photographer said he usuallybooks about 1 wedding for every 12 to 15 leads he responds to. I figured if I could book just one then that would more than cover purchasing future leads.
I have only been responding to leads via email introducing myself and inviting them to visit my website and asking them to contact me should they like to visit more. Maybe I should start calling them. I hate pushy sales people and don't want to be that, but it might improve the conversion rate.

I even tried their premium service for a bit, just to see if it helped. Was never contacted by a bride after sending an introductory email. Was asked to fill out a survey for them and told them it wasn't worth the money and that I would not recommend it, and they even pulled my free ad! WedAlert is no better either. I think that paying for leads is, for me at least, a huge waste of time and money. I have gotten a few leads and at least one booking from WeddingWire, and brides can post reviews there too, so that helps.

Good thing I didn't go that route. I just got some credits to contact the leads. I created my "storefront" on wedding wire but haven't had anything so far.

Some of the material in this thread is great. Its amazing how many usernames this company seems to be registering to post false testimonials. I'd be nice if the administration team could compare the IP addresses of all the suspected wedplan.net users and see how similar (or identical) they are.

It is pretty sad indeed that they felt the need to create profiles just to try and counter act the bad words others have given them, since this makes their arguments obviously biased and falsified.
I recently signed up for their free listing, was considering buying a lead or two in my local area, but after reading this I don't think I will. On a interesting side note though, they've called me twice this week since I signed up to try and tell me about how their service can help me book more weddings, I presume they are actually calling to try and get me to sign up for a pay membership.

Well, I have requested information for around 4 couples around my area and got in contact with them, but the hardest part is that most of them are out of town and require travel and they prefer to work with somebody local.
