Haha, there's two ways of looking at this. 1) "This is my hole, get away!", or two 2) "What's up sugah?"

Excellent shot, you must be feeling lucky :D

Not so far.......I saw a White Male fly by and another Snowy was flying towards it for a a second or 2 and then veered off and landed on a pole. There is a Juvenile I saw this past Sunday withing a 1/4 mile of the one I usually photograph and I got some shots of it in flight but I have not seen these two meet up ..........yet:)

Thanks to everyone who looked and commented....must now return to work:cry:

Nice shot Gary, excellent work; may I ask, where you were when you took that shot? What was your vantage point? were you up in the trees Gary?

Thanks and the vantage was quite good. The hole was not more than 9 feet up and facing West towards the river with the only disatvantage being that there was only a few feet at the base of the tree to the river. Even side views like this one required some caution so as not to fall into the rather deep and murky water. Several Ottawa POTN members and others had a great view of these birds over several weeks from the time liv2trip first discovered the male digging the hole to when the chicks finaly fledged.. I found the same thing the next day and it took several days for this sapsucker to carve out the home he built for his family.

For a view of this same bird digging out his home and likely my favourite Sapsucker photo see here

And thanks also to kato1 for the comment:)

Great image Gary and another really good example of camo. That bird is melting into that tree bark.
