Any info on this one yet? It's small, about the length I need and got IS. It's a bit expensive though for a non-L lens.

Anybody who owns one? Any good reviews (couldn't find a good one with Google)?

I have had a ef 70-300 f/4.5 5.6 IS for about a year + and I love it. If I use iso 200 I can hand hold the camera and not have any camera shake down to at least 1/60 sec. at 300mm.

I think that DO model is totally different beast with twice the price and everything... (or I hope)

The few US-based web stores that are taking pre-orders have it at US$1,299, marked down from a supposed $1,999 list price.

The price seems quite high to me for non-L glass, especially with the 100-400 IS L lens just a little bit more. Granted, the 100-400 might give you back problems if you carry it around all day, but that's a different issue. Also Sigma's great 100-300 f/4 lens can be had for under US$800, but you give up the IS. The 70-300 DO's optics had better be darned good to support that price, in my opinion.

The shipping date looks like May 1st. I thought they were originally scheduled for March/early-April? Wonder why the delay.

No reviews yet.

You probably have a 75-300 IS lens, but not the new 70-300 DO IS USM (http://www.dpreview.com/news/0401/04012902canon70300do.asp). I'm waiting for it too....... :?
