compare the 400DO ( http://www.letsgodigital.org/en/lens/Canon/fixed_focal_tele/400-mm/47.html ) profile to that of the "800mm DO" they are actually quite different.. if it's photoshopped, it's based off the 400DO and 600 f4...
btw, those guys are taking orders for teh 40d already:rolleyes:
after reading the caption (quite hard on the eyes), yes, it's based off the 600mm design... quite a nicely made hoax if it is one

Also the 400 DO is f4 so with a 2x TC it would be f8.0

I do not see it happening, is there really a market for this lens

I think that there's a market for it, but I'm not sure at what price point. Birders would love the focal length, and the weight (considering the length), but I'm not sure about the price. If this lens were to be produced, and presented a weight close to that of the 500/4, it would be desireable (assuming good image quality).
