Canon EOS 3D is rumored to have 45AF points with eye controlled focus which offers instant, intuitive AF in almost any situation by linking eye movement with the multiple AF points.

Please delete if this has already been seen!

Edit: Thought this was the New 5d/1d camera but the above was posted in January 2006!

Most likely a fake. If Canon made 3D a year ago, it should be available by now, instead of still being the subject of rumor.

well, it's the first I've heard of it (but then again when it started, I wasn't looking out for rumors on anything more than what was coming after the 20D in that range).

That mockup looks kinda cool though

Also, I don't know about everyone else, but, although I doubt the "3D" name scheme is true anyway, I'd really like the 1D MkII's successor to retain its naming convention be called the 1D MkIII.

"one dee mark three" just rolls off the tongue very well :)

the 3D is/was/might be intended to replace the EOS 3 film body, NOT the 1series bodies, that is of course just as much a rumor as anything else, and after three years of rumors i dont know how seiously we can take it any more.

it wouldnt, it would just focus normally. PS eye control isnt a new thing, but eos 3, Elan7, and some other film bodies already had it.

I'm not supposed to tell anyone, but I had one of those top secret 3D's. It worked just like my EOS 3 film camera, but it wouldn't fit on my EF-S lenses so I threw it away. If I had known anybody was interested I could have sent it to you, but what good is a camera that can't fit on the 17-55?

Looks like it comes complete with a set of Phil Askey's product lighting setup as well, as evidenced by the reflections in the lens....

I think this rumor came out back in August of 2006....

The bottom grip on the camera is a direct rip-off off the Nikon D2X, definitely a fake Photoshop job.

From what I have heard, the real '3D' will feature the breakthrough ... stereoscopic photography!

Of course, you will have to mount 2 lenses to it ... think of EF lens sales if you need two of each in the future

Best regards,
Andy

Definitely a fake. The "3" is a different color than the "D" for one thing. If they do have a 3D, it will look different than this one.
