On the fly Portrait

I took this with my Canon 300D, 50mm f/2.5 macro lens + 420ex flash on bounce

The pose and lighting are perfect, but I think a more scenic background would really bring this picture out more. This portrait would have more 'freedom' if you like, if captured with for example a garden setting. As it currently is it makes you feel a bit like... well... being in an office!

Hope that doesn't sound harsh!

As has already been said nice pose and lighting but I also feel that the background is wrong. I feel that it would benefit from having the background removed and just a plain bg inserted also a crop on the right and left but not too much on the left side.

I don't like the edge effect at all
