rented the lens... loved it.. now im looking for a copy to keep

noticed some vignetting on a few pics.. in this type of setting its easy to see the drop off at 1.4 ... but of coarse you would never use that for a pic like this (F8 and be there) ...but it was a useful learning experience for me

this was at the coke pavilion at livecity yaletown in Vancouver BC. Coke was one of the main promotors of the 2010 winter olympics, and they set up the coke pavilion - THE happiest place on earth. they gave out free coke and free limited edition glowing coke bottles. (i'll post a pic later)

http://i50.tinypic.com/5x53ww.jpg

here is my girlfriend when we were lining up for the coke pavilion. we decided to play with the hat that i won at one of the volkwagon car simulator booth - i was able to beat the record time for their car simulator. The hat IMO is sweeeet :D (and warm, perfect for normal vancouver weather)

The lens is terrific, but I gotta say that you rocked that reflector. Did you have an assistant for it, or was it mounted on a stand?

Thanks guys! I had an assistant so I was lucky enough to move about

between this , the 50L, and 85 L , which do you think will be the best walkaround lens on my Rebel XSi? and will the pictures look this good even on a non FF camera?

35L by far!!!

I'd vote for the 35L on a crop as well for an all around. Actually, I'd probably go the 24L route making the focal length close to 40mm.

I have an E-P1 with the 20mm f/1.7 (40mm equivalent) and it's great for an all around lens.

I subscribed to this thread last year and have been slyly following it. I was supposed to get the 35L and the 70-200 f/2.8L for christmas - but with buying a car too, i opted for one lens, the 70-200 but i am still drooooooling at this lens...I guess a 35L birthday present would be nice ;) Excellent pieces of work chaps!

24L is a nice focal length on the crop but...
the 35L has sharper edges, its has better contrast, and smoother out-of-focus highlights
win, win, and win

on a crop camera those two lenses are in no way to be considered as options for a walkaround lens!

even 35mm is too long in my opinion as a walkaround lens on a crop..

24L seems the best option.

Loved your shots Pham! I did not realize you had Flex units, I got mine last week but either they are not cooperating or I do not know how to use them. Using mine in ETTL mode seems to output more flash then I want.
