I am not questioning what can 35 mm do.....I am asking a different question:-) Why 90% of folks here need it?
For me that one is easy; I'm a L addict.

how did you direct the flash?

Jacob is cute!
Haha, I'll pass that along to him! I'm trying to plan a shoot with him and his g/f soon.
To Ferrari Alex, the 70-200ii is a fantastic lens and well worth the money. The 35L might be hard for you to understand due to what and/or how you shoot but a lot of us shoot weddings where we need something to use that's sharp wide open and can suck up a ton of light in very dark situations. I shot my friend's entire b-day party with the 35L on my 5dii and all natural light.
I'm sorry but a 24-105 or even a 24-70L couldn't do what this did. Wide open ISO3200 around 1/200sec (could've gone lower but I wanted to freeze them since they were a bit inebriated at the time haha) and color/sharpness and creamy bokeh to get rid of the distracting bg to boot. This is where primes shine and although you might not see a lot of them posted, I'd rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it ;)

EXIF shows f/4 ISO800 and 1/40sec and the ceiling looks a bit too dark and high to bounce it so I'm assuming it was direct but I could be wrong.

Yes, chris is correct on the exif data. It was f4 @ iso800 and 1/40 in manual mode.
Shot with 580ex II in Ettl on camera with flash tilted upward and very slightly forward bouncing off ceiling. I did use a stofen with the catchlight card brought up slightly.

It's been resolved, I think they sent a mass message out about it. Just someone responded to my WTB ad and I was the idiot who believed him. I caught onto him once he started sending me emails saying he had shipped it but had no tracking number. Lesson learned.

Thanks!
Well I can guess why shots from this angle are kinda rare. I took it from the top of Marina Bay Skypark, and the problem is that the best view of the flyer is coverd with a thick glass wall that has a very negative impact on IQ.
Lucky thing I found a sturdy plastic chair! Somehow I managed to balance on it, with my tripod leaning from the chair against the glass wall and getting my camera to shoot over it. I got the shots off just before the guards saw my stunt. ;) Was so lucky!

finally decided to give this thing a try
rented it for 2 days and tried it at some wedding i helped covering
nothing fancy, some random shots of guests and stuff
it took me some shots to get used to the dof and general behavior, but boy, this is probably one of the most fun lenses i ever put my hands on
will be ordering it tomorrow, i think i'm in love

It's kind of in the middle of farms and the closest one I've seen is gated and was roughly 100' away. Here's one of the shots that was closest to the gates. I'm not sure if you can get access to them or not but the sound and power of them is incredible. Ohh and just to give you an idea of the size, the pic below has the red outline of the staircase just to the entrance to the bottom of one haha.

The dad and I are close friends from college, and I was later a groomsman in his wedding. His son underwent major open heart surgery for a congenital heart defect when he was only two months old! Thankfully, he's recovering well, and he'll be celebrating a very special first birthday later this month!

Very nice shot as usual Tim. My cousin had the same thing when she was younger and I'm happy to say she graduated this year and hasn't shown any other issues.

A little back story on this image...
The dad and I are close friends from college, and I was later a groomsman in his wedding. His son underwent major open heart surgery for a congenital heart defect when he was only two months old! Thankfully, he's recovering well, and he'll be celebrating a very special first birthday later this month!
Good news that the recovery is going well. I can't imagine going through that with a child at that age. The picture is great. I'm still amazed at how you capture people looking so at ease. You have the perfect balance of technical ability and personal style. They all look like such fun shoots.

Took the one this past Sat. 100% natural light. Didn't do a whole lot of post processing, just a bit of curves that's all.

Love that shot Bob! Carol, nice shot but I think it's suffering from compression. The unfortunate side effect of attaching the image instead of embedding from what I understand. Here's an older shot of Lacamas Lake.

click on the drop down arrow next to the fb and twitter signs and then choose grab the html/bb code. Choose the size you want (I choose 1024 on the longest side per forum rules) copy that and insert into the post and voila!

Wish I could be more help but I definitely think it's worth seeing at least once. I was bored Friday so I drove 2 hours from Vancouver, Wa to check them out again and don't regret it.
I've actually been up in those. One of the mechanics / repair people who service them took me and a buddy up when I spent some time over in Canada. Great experience!

Selfportrait of me and my GF on one of our adventures in Singapore. :)
Nothing special, but still another good reason to always bring a tripod + remote control while traveling.
