It's practically my only walkaround lens now. I've never used anything else in the last couple of months since I got it for family or friends gatherings.
But of course, I shoot on FF. For you it'll -kinda of- look like you're shooting on 22mm.

pondering trading my 24-70 for a 35L, I shoot a bit of photojournalism(I interned for the summer at a paper) food, sports, portraits etc. However, I'll be in Italy during the Spring/traveling around Europe. Any advice for people that have done the same or have both lenses? Here's some of my stuff, mostly a mix of the 24-70, 70-200, or 100 f/2 for maybe one.

To be honest, although the 24L is heralded as a great lens, the pictures in that thread mostly leave me cold whereas in this thread they mostly impress me.
I am definitely sold on the 35L. I have yet to see an example of what the 24L can do that has made me eyes pop out quite so far!

^Really depends on the the subject of interest and also the camera being used. I shoot with both 24L & 35L on both crop & FF and they are different lenses on different formats. That being said, they are both capable of excellent shots and will produce very similar color, sharpness, etc... with the obvious difference of FL and the elements it affects (ie... bokeh at MFD, etc.). Though they may seem pretty close in focal length, it really isn't (at least IMO). For anyone choosing between the two, it will really come down to the need of the photog. and the preferred FL.

Current body is the 7D.
Subject of interest would most likely be fashion/portraits/outdoor.
Page after page never disappoints, so the 35 is looking like an excellent candidate. :D

"Photos may give insight into our lives, but memories of those times are what keeps them alive."
Photo albums rarely get looked at, often only during special occasions when guests are invited into the house. That is why I have a photo wall next to my bed, filled with friends and memories that are and were. A reminder of my life in pictures as I slump into dreamland every night.
(Photo papers are curved because they are a low-quality / thin paper mounted with a thin line of 3M removable stickers in the middle. It was an accident but I loved it so much that I started printing everything that way.)

pretty fine if you ask me, but I prefer something about 16 to 20mm on landscapes. the 35mm is made for body-portraits in my opinion, that's where I like it the most :)

Yes, it performs great! As i thought!! Great photos. I`m thinking my lens set up in future:
35 L + 135 L. These will do most of my photos, except landscapes...thinking 17 - 40 L ?

Just wanted to say there has been some absolutely wicked posts on this forum. Got my 35mm after MUCH looking of images on this forum, and after doing two shoots (product) over the last couple of days, in have to say i'm definitely loving my 35L :)
Using a 7D, and the DOF is fantastic! Sharp at 1.4, though my product shots have been mostly around f8/11. These have come out crisp, defined, perfect :)
Will post some 7D examples very soon......
Once again, nice one all. Some truly inspirational shots being posted on this forum, and really nice positive feelings and buzz from all who post :)

I really love my 85's wire focus for video... sooooo smooth... but, actually, i'll be getting the Zeiss 85 1.4 ZF.2 and using it with my Nikon FE... (i've got only the old 50 1.2 ais plus a couple extra non nikon lenses.) i love my 1D and only use if for every purpose, but last few months I've been lugging my FE with me as well, because... as a film camera, its just addictive... never bothered to get any good lenses before, so one last hurrah before film dies out completely... i suspect since that camera's been in my possession since the 80's and working well today, it'll outlast my lifetime.

This might be an odd question, but I'm planning on upgrading to full frame from my 7D and I was just wondering how much different (or better lol) the 35L.. would anyone have comparison photos to show the DOF difference? Thanks!
