Pat your post processing is beautiful and suits the subject so perfectly. I don't blame you at all if you don't, but could you give us an insight into how you achieved this look?

I'd be happy to, actually.

It's a combination of a slight white balance shift in LR plus some photoshop tricks.

I'm in the process of writing a tutorial on how to achieve similar effects.

Short version - set proper WB in cam, adj roughly a few hundred degrees to the right in LR (the warm side). Bring into photoshop and I run a few actions I've made up to achieve the color balance and overall "feel".

I got mine before. 35L is good on any body. Plus - you won't have to wait too long to go FF.

40D is sold. 5dmk2 is coming once the local store calls me. I put down a deposit the other night.

I can't do that. I shoot landscapes often, but my GND filters will vignette at 17mm, as they will on a prime. The zoom lets me zoom into 19mm and eliminate any vignetting due to the GND holders - and most of my landscapes are shot at f/16 anyway so the speed is no issue.

It's the only zoom lens that stays in my bag.

Yeah maybe stick with just her eyes, the ring, and the rim/stem of the glass;) awesome shot though, she's beautiful...lucky man

Yup, it really is a good shot. Im no expert, of course, so i could be wrong. But if its ture, and an amateur can spot it, well...

The part where the cup is, looks great, so maybe when trying to nail that, you forgot her face. But it does seem like the shadow of her nose, to the left of her nose, it does seem weird, and that small area, in general seems to have gotten a bit pixelated.

itd be interesting to see the original pic, with no PP.
cheers.

I'm amazed at how good the pictures are. You did a great job out of... well, nothing much. Background got nothing very interesting, looks like the middle of nowhere, the model does not seem to have any special makeup and wear casual, yet the pictures are vibrant, crisp, with a warm feeling.

Well, nothing I can come close to, so what's your secret? :D I don't think it's the lens (though I noticed you shot all these at f/1.4). Did you add additional light sources to the scene or is it just natural light? Any post special post processing?

Anyway, great job!

Light wasn't that great and I felt rushed with a subject who wasn't an enthusiast, I'll tell you that much. ;) She wouldn't stop talking though! Getting a shot of her without a weird facial expression/mouth wide open was the hardest part of the shoot. Her family refused a longer session. They were happy with the final results, which is I guess all that matters.

As for post, just a slight +warmth boost and s-curve.

Yes they do. Vincent sold us all on the 5D2 and he got a fat check for Reverie... you need a fat check for your mad 35L promotion skills :)

I'm tracking UPS like a hawk to find out when they attempt and fail to deliver it (since it's going home and I'm at work all day) so I can promptly call the 1-800 number and have them hold it at the nearby customer care location and get it after work :) :)

Sooooo anxious to have it in my hands!!!!!!!!!!!!

EDIT: Can I leave work early? The UPS guy just called (I left him a note on my door w/ my cell #) and it's sitting on my back door waiting for me now.............
