So I just bought the ip6700D a few weeks only, and only made about 2-3 prints, so far so good! But I'm thinking i'd like to get a printer that can print larger images, so the next one is the Pro 9000. Is this a pretty good upgrade? I noticed that the ip6700d has 1-picoliter MicroFine ink drops with 9600 x 2400 dpi resolution whereas the pro 9000 has 2-picoliter MicroFine ink drops with 4800 x 2400 dpi resolution.

Is this something that is noticeable to the human eye?

From what I have read, the human eye cannot see the difference between 4 or lower picoliters. I have no practical experience with that - only what I have read. I think a new model replacing the 9000 is due out in March. Check the Canon website.

the pro9500 is NOT replaceing the pro9000. the pro9000 just replaced the i9900 in the fall, the 9500 is entirely its own printer (pigments inks, probably also will cost more).

i love my i9900, so im sure the pro9000 is even better.

Yeah I see that a new model is coming out. Only problem is I am close to the 30 day return policy on my 6700D and if I want to exchange it for the 9000 then I need to do it now :( Oh well I figure the 9500 is gonna be more expensive than the 9000 anyways.

yea and unless you are doing a lot of black and whites the pigment ink isnt that important, and for the assumed price hike i dont think it will even be worth it. the pro9000 is a fine printer for sure.

Well i went in, and the manager was ubber nice, and let me trade back my 6700d for the pro9000. I'm just installing it as I type this (print head alignment!). All I gotta say is this printer is HUGE!

Tomorrow I set off to get some large paper to really test it out. Can't wait! Any paper that I should get that anyone recommends?

Yea. For glossy i like Canon photo paper pro, and for matte i like Ilford Galliere Classic (or Smooth) Pearl. great stuff. congrats on the printer.

??? I just checked online right now, and it shows it listed for $678.99 on sale (reg $699.99).

I bought mine from Futureshop for $649.99 (well the price went back up to $699 on friday, but the manager there lowered it back to $649.99 for me). But if you've seen the price for less than that, leme know, so I can get a PM done ;)

Yup they jacked the price this morning. Damn.

Well that makes it cheaper to buy in the states and bring it across the border still.

Damn, the price on that printer changes every day! It must of been a weekend promotion, since I checked BB's price on friday evening when it was the same. I'll keep a eye on the price though for the next 30 days. I have a feeling once the 9500 comes out the price on the 9000 will drop hopefully.

Not that I didn't trust you, but you are right. I checked Pricecanada.com (http://www.pricecanada.com/detail.php?product_id=462938) and it still shows the price at $611.09

Gujustud, how do you like your Pro9000 after the first week or so?

Honestly, so far I've only done about 3-4 prints on 4x6 Canon Matte Paper. So far not too bad. I'd really like to try some glossy paper, and really a nice large print. Only problem is I work full time and the stores that carry the large paper are usually closed by the time I'm off work.
