I was wondering how some members clean and maintain their tripods and heads?
I've read on another site about rubbing Armor All on the legs till they are dry.
What do you think of doing this?
I'm mostly interested in the panning of my Manfrotto 056 head that seems a little sticky.
It takes a little extra twist to get it loose but once it is, it pans left and right smoothly.
That makes me think it might be a little dry around the bushings.
I believe the head is about 10 years old now.
Thanks.

Contact manfrotto and ask them. I would rather use "Bostik Dricote" or "Boeshield T-9" for legs or even the head (but first check with manfrotto about the head) than armour all. You should be able to get those chemicals from Lee Valley Tools in Ottawa.

I sent an email to Manfrotto before asking the question here just to get an opinion from everyone. Still waiting for Manfrotto's reply.
Thanks for the reply Quad. This is useful info for others too.

So wouldn't Lithium white grease be adequate? That's what car manufactures use on door/trunk hinges do to their water resistant factor.
