Hey,
I just purchased a new computer with Windows Vista on it. I used photoshop and the album DS software to design my albums for GraphiStudio. After installing it on my new machine, I realized that Album DS is not compatable with Vista, I tried to run the compatability Wizard and that did not work. Any suggestions? I am going to try to contact Album DS and see if they have an idea. Thank you.

I've been told Graphi are bringing out something themselves very soon - if I recall the conversation correctly it will be standalone rather than Photoshop plug-in. I've not seen anything myself, and know nothing more than this.

I don't know about Graphi specifically, but from now on I'm doing all my album designs in InDesign when possible.

Corey-
you seem to have had a bad experience with customer service at Graphi (Quote:non existent),but the post I recall is old now.....have you had better service recently?

I've never received my samples, which seems to be a common problem, others have said to contact the italian office directly, which seems to work if you need customer support for orders.

Yervant (http://www.yervant.com/) uses Graphi and he has his own software package for album design caled Page Gallery (http://www.yervant.com.au/).
I've never used it, so can't offer any feedback.

Do you know what MS calls early adopters of their software? Beta testers. For reasons like what happened to the OP, I don't install new MS software until after MS has released the first service pack. Shortly after MS released Vista, I ordered a new laptop. I specified that it was not to have Vista installed on it, but that it must have XP.

Vista has been a nightmare for me, and I think that I should have gone this route as well, but I needed a computer fast because my DVD drive went out on my old one and I needed to get images to a client. I cannot for the life of me understand why MS didn't release Vista to all the software companies Six months before getting this to the general public:evil:

Jeff et al,
Sorry to dig up this old thread (I would start a new one but thought I could just post in this one first)...
Anyone happy with Album DS? I am thinking whether it's worth to shell out $300 for the software, or just buy some cheaper one that will give nice wedding album templates (maybe fotofusion ...)
Also any problem with resizing the AlbumDS templates from rectangle to square and vice versa, and getting quality prints out of the jpg files produced by the software.
Thanks,

I would have to second InDesign... InDesign is perfect for page layouts. That's what it was made to do. Very powerful, easy to use, and you may already have it.

Thanks Randplaty. I got InDesign trial version, but need a quick start on how to use it (to decide whether I should buy it instead of other s/w like AlbumDS...)
How did you learn about using InDesign for wedding album? I find the Help included w/ the software overwhelming, and taking a lot of time. The tutorials from Adobe website is very general.
You know any good tutorial (preferrably free) for InDesign that is specific for wedding album design, or any kind of album ? Coreypolis suggested the DVD from http://www.newschoolphoto.com/blogme/software-video-series-indesign, but it's another 35 bucks :(
Really appreciate your input.
Cheers,

@ BaliHai! I've created an easy-to-follow screencast video tutorial called Awesome Album Design Skills. The tutorial goes step by step through the process of designing albums using InDesign.
Adobe InDesign really is hands down the fastest and easiest way to design albums. The truth is in the name!
Once you use InDesign to create albums, you'll never look back.
You can learn more about the tutorial here:

robnlauren. Looks like you've responded to a thread that's four years old now. The chances are that this question was resolved a long time ago.

I've been trying to figure this out, so please help! Once I have my album designed in InDesign, how do I get it printed? I don't know of any services that can take my designs and print them.
I know how to use InDesign very well so I would love to be able to make my own albums instead of using the software on photo printing websites. I'm assuming that the printing service will define the specs for my InDesign pages, right? If not, could someone here point me in the right direction?

Hey Wizcreations!
There are tons and tons of different album companies so it's worth doing some research to make sure you find the right album company for the job!
We use Vision Art (http://www.visionart.com/) for our wedding and portrait photography.
If you're looking for an affordable solution for just yourself then check out Blurb (http://www.blurb.com/). They just introduced some really nice looking fine art options.
Different manufacturers will have different design specifications (margins etc.) so you'll need to check with them to setup you document properly.
Most album design company accept jpeg spreads. I think you can also submit the design as a .pdf for Blurb.
Hope this helps!

You actually gave me an idea. I could just export my pages to JPEG and upload them as "photos" to place in my album. I'll check out the sites you listed too. Thanks!

Does anyone have had issue with graphi software (Directors payer error)?
Try this:
If You are Using GraphiSoftware 4.0 and Experience Error Messages or Other Issues
Reinitialize the Software:
1. Make sure all projects are closed
2. Simultaneously hold down the shift key while opening up GraphiSoftware (clicking over the red “S” icon)
*Do Not Release the Shift Key Until the Language Options Palette Opens!
By doing this you are resetting the software.
