Hello everyone,

I'm new here and the question may have come up before.

Can anyone show me a good example of a request for a photo pass event that you use.

Thanks, Raylon

Hey Raylon - welcome to the board. do you mean an e-mail request that you'd send to there managers or PR people? If that's the case, I never had a "standard" one, just wrote when I needed it, but always include a few things...

A) Address it to the person you're contacting (not just hello or to whom it concerns). Try to find out there name, and if you can't then use hello or something like that. To whom it concerns just gives away you don't know who you're sending it to. "Hello" doesnt.

B) Say who you are and who you're shooting for, if it's not a big publication then include what it is.

C) State for what show you want to shoot (also a help to include that in the subject - i.e., Relient K Photo Pass - March 2nd Buffalo.

D) Ask them to let you know, so you can get that confirmation email back.

D) PRINT that e-mail you get back confirming your request and keep your original email on there as well. I've shown up at so many concerts and it gets lost in the chain of command to put me on the list. I pull that email out and bam, there's the road manager welcoming me and apologizing which is no big deal as it happens ALL THE TIME. You get confirmed with the PR people, the PR people give it to "someone" to give to the road manager, the road manager gives it to someone to give the venue, the venue gives it to the door guy. Well somewhere in there, it's lost! A lot!

Actually, print two :) Never know when they'll lose the one you gave them at the show to, which I've had done until the lead singer came walking by asking why I wasn't backstage with them - that settled it all :P
