Here is my First attempt at soft water landscape, this was shot with a Canon 30D 50mm lens shot in TV mode with shutter speed on 1/10 I do believe...
comments will be appreciated, howevr remember I am new at this......

Good first attempt. You might want to experiment with a longer shutter speed to really smooth out the water. What was the aperture at for this shot? You might want to shoot in Av and select the smallest aperture (largest f/ number). Or you can move one more click and go into M and set it all yourself. If you still want a longer shutter speed you can use a polarizer or, better yet, a neutral density filter.

Tried today with very poor sucess, not very good light today, still shooting on TV..

Use a longer exposure. It's amazing how much softer it'll be at 1/4 sec., but even try longer ones, 1 to 2 seconds. Then for the real cotton candy stuff... Are you using a tripod, beanbag, nearby rock or hand held?
