Yes, but I personally prefer this one
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=Search&A=details&Q=&sku=70561&is=REG&addedTroughType=search
because it has a shutter lock switch on it (though it also has a wire). I guess it depends on what you're using it for.

No, it's for bulb exposures (no set shutter speed, or shutter speeds loner than 30 seconds). You can just lock the shutter in the open position and close it whenever you want without disturbing the camera.

Wireless only works from infront of the camera thats where the sensor is. also you can't do bulb exposures with the wireless one.

Instead of holding the button down the entire time for bulb exposure you can lock the button in a down position.

Yes, you certainly can do bulb exposures with the RC-1. Because you have to operate it, pointing the remote at the front of the camera, it has a sliding switch on it which allows you a 2 second delay from clicking the control button, so that you can get you and your hand out of view in time. For bulb exposures, you click the black control button on the remote to open the camera's shutter, then click again to close whenever you want.

The rc-1 is line of sight - the receiver is on front of camera at about 10:00 - little glass window looking thing [ on XTI ] I f you can't see it , neither can hand remote . If you get one , remove battery when not using it .
It's not to bad to take a picture you don't want , but I learned the hard way with cam-corder . Went to take picture/movie but was out of tape . Got an interesting conversation on tape thou .

On my 300D I can just plug in my cell phone handset and use the little button to trip the shutter, AF too, just like the Canon accessories. Cost me $1.00 at my local dollar store...
You might want to try this out and see if it works well for you before shelling out for a Canon model.

Any hands free set will work with a jack and pushbutton
Don't want to hijack this thread so see new one here on remote hacks...
