Hi there,
Many thanks to a member of the Pistonheads forum who told me in an earlier post that Sturgess the Jaguar dealer in Leicester had a Martini Jaguar XJ220 Race car in their showroom.
I sent an e-mail to the dealership asking about the car and managed to get along there earlier today for a good look.
The car is an ex Italian GT racer but has at various times been raced in the UK, in fact it still has a scrutineering sticker from a race in 1994 at Donington Park attached to the rollcage. The car is up for sale at £135,000.
Here are some pictures I managed to take of the car during my visit: -

That is an awesome car
And great pictures. Did you contact the showroom as a buyer or photographer?

I was thinking that, did you just ask to take photos? or do you know the manager or something?
Great photos BTW

Hi there,
Many thanks for your replies.
I contacted the showroom by e-mail and told them that I was an amateur photographer and I wanted to take some pictures for my own collection and for my website.
They actually phoned me the morning after I sent my e-mail and told me that it would be fine for me to go along and take some pics and that they would also have no objections to me and my 13 year old son having a sit in the car.
They were really helpful.

The car didn't last 5 minutes on the market, J. Clarkson slated it. I think its one of the best looking cars in the history of cars!
No.2 is my fave.

Hi there,
Did not actually sit in the car !! was offered the chance a couple of times during my visit but was worried about breaking something as I am not exactly the thinest of people.

The XJ220 is one of the most interesting cars ever, in terms of the history of its development, marketing, sales, performance, ownership etc.
And there are some lovely photos there autofocus.

Hi there,
Yes I currently take all of my pictures with an Olympus E-500.
I know this is a Canon forum but I used to read and post in this forum when I had my Canon EOS300V Film SLR and I have just continued to use the forum as there is not really any decent forums out there for the Olympus user.
If anyone has a problem with an Olympus user posting in a Canon forum then please let me know.
If however your question was related to the E-500 in terms of performance, quality etc then please let me know and I will give you my thoughts.
Regards
Tim
