Well, first time with a press pass shooting to get in the holes and in the benches. The stadium was definately not taking into consideration photogs when they built it...no room for anything, including myself. 1st period shot on the home end. 2nd period shot from in between the benches sitting with Rob "Razor" Ray and got to be in the middle of a controversy when Boston left the ice and refused to come back out thinking the period ended, however, there was a goal after review (which I keep seeing myself on TV this morning as they show the empty bench and we were right there) - VERY interesting sitting in there! 3rd period shot from the away end.

Gotta give it to Boston, they played pretty good for being the whippin boys of the league  Didn't touch any of these as I'm on a crappy laptop in a hotel somewhere in Canada - just cropped quick and resized so no clue how the coloring or anything looks on a real computer.

Excellent photographs man. I love all of them.

I have to say that was the first time in a long time I saw the B's want a game that bad. And I have watch every game. That game had everything, fights, goals, hitting, and even a little bit of controversey as you mentioned. Excellent! I love the photographs. Can they all be seen at your website?

Is it just me or is the first image only the top coming up now? I'll have to re-upload it or something.

Thanks, and it did look like they wanted it early with the fight going pretty quick to set a tone. I was on the bench (in btwn Buf/Bos) with Rob Ray and the TV video guy during all that "controversy" - the officials came over, talking hanging out as the head official cleared it up, all the sabres at the end of the bench, atmosphere was pretty cool down there. Loudest boo's I ever heard when the B's came out!! Fast as hell at that level, even faster than being in the holes it seems as they're goin by more than at you.

As for the site, idk, I have to go through them and might put them on a "hidden" link or just as a gallery without sales or something.

I almost broke myself getting those shots, I was angled toward Miller when it broke out and did a dive/slide over...another foot I would have been in this girls lap (not a bad thing though either) :)

Very good shots, what setup were you using?

I was listening to the Play-by-play for the Bruins home games, and he spoke with one of the Bruins coaches and he said the B's were not refusing to come out, they just needed to get dressed again.

A lot of the players take skates and equipment off between periods. I guess Chara takes all of his equipment off between periods. So that is what he said the delay was for.

I played around a bit testing settings but believe these were all done at 1/1000, 1600 ISO, 2.8, manual settings, no strobes obviously, custom WB to the ice which I noticed a big difference as the first 30-40 shots I used auto. Mark IIN (on a trial period from CPS) with a Sigma 70-200 2.8. I wanted to try my 300 2.8 when I was in the middle benches but never did, there wasn't much room there and didn't have to much time to test things out with it. Next time I guess.

That is right, but also a bit questionable to. I know one off ice official said they were refusing to get dressed again because I heard him relay it to the on-ice guys, and that's where they threatened penalty. Didnt hear the on ice guys say that though (the penalty) but it was on the canadian news that night. One was joking how they're ready to get in the showers and get back on the bus though :)

thanks. got about 650 to go through, these were just pulled quickly at random. See if there's anything better in that bunch.

Love the Ryan Miller shot. If you would have gotten all of his left pad it would have been better though, IMHO.

I can see that. If I just got undressed after thinking th period was over I wouldn't want to get dressed again lol.

I wonder if they were trying to combine the remaining time with the next period. I've seen that done with broken glass that takes a while to fix.

It might have been, I was only using a 70-200...I just cropped these quick as checkout time was approaching at the hotel so I might of slipped it off by mistake. Either way, Ryan was the focus of my shoot so there's about 100+ pics of him to choose from :)

That's what the TV camera guy was saying, I don't know if the Sabres refused it or what was going on. If I was the Sabres I would of forced them to get dressed again, ha. Either way, the B's pulled it out (unfortunately!).

Thanks Jerry, hopefully get some more pulled soon to show. With the Mark IIN there was a lot that the camera did, not me but that one I actually timed, soon as I saw the puck leaving I started the serious - the rest after weren't so good.

MJ beautiful photos

BTW, the linesman that is in your first shot. His name is Tim Nowak.

He was my instructor back in 2000 when I was at the Western Regional Officials camp in Michigan. Amazing guy to talk with.

Nice faceoff shot of Kessel too. Good to see he is back and skating with his recent bout w/cancer. (Local madison, WI boy)

Kessel played a good game, actually as I mentioned it's the best I've seen Boston play all year! Even though I've only seen them against Buffalo and I think one other team. The entire staff of refs that night seemed extremely good and nice group. Most were at the Sabres bench and where I was shooting from so got to hear and talk a bit with them. One was taking the time to entertain a baby in the first row, hey had nothing better to do in that delay.
