I live here in Ottawa and one of the big events is Winterlude in the winter time. I thought it would be cool to shoot some shots of the canal with people skating, but when I got home, they just looked like normal shots.. nothing special... So I started playing around, and got the idea to make the image look like a painting of the canal (You always see the paintings)... by upping the saturation, and playing with the levels, I think I have a pretty decent image now.. something that looks much better than the RAW that came out of my camera.

I like it. Keep playing and you might find better results still.

Thanks guys... I'll probably play some more. I have about 15 versions to play with. I wanted something I could frame here at home.

Thanks.. I added a bunch of saturation, because paintings always seem to look that way... makes the people like almost surreal...

Nice pic, mtb, though I don't think saturation is enough. If your photo editor has artist tools that can convert a picture to say, watercolor, impasto brush strokes, or the like, then you can use that to make this really look like a painting.

Looking at this pic, I somehow feel that a pointillist effect, such as that found in Seurat's paintings, will lend nicely here.

brb .. btw nice handle... only bikers would know what you are! hah

I'll test out some filters in PS... really I was just playing to see what I could acheive without filters, but the full effect, might be worth my while. ;)

Thanks mtb! I knew you were a bike enthusiast. Share us the pic when you're finished....
