Hi guys,

I live in UK and i will visit to DisneyLand in Orlando in 2 weeks.Do u guys know any place with best price to buy Canon EF 70-200mm F/4L IS USM near disneyland?

I live in the Orlando area. Camera stores are not what they once were. Oh, and DisneyWORLD is in Florida, while DisneyLAND is on the left coast (California).

Avoid the stores on International Drive (a.k.a. I-Drive) - they seem to prey on tourists.

Ritz doesn't carry anything by Canon (weird!).

Harmon Photo, north of downtown almost in Winter Park seemed to be quite helpful over the phone, and had the lens (and the f/2.8) in stock when I called. Prices a bit above what is found typical on-line, but not too high.

Colonial Photo & Hobby, nearby, has both 70-200 Ls in stock too, at prices closer to online sources.

Those are the ones I am familiar with by driving past them - I do not have any experience buying anything or even going in the stores, as far as I recall (I'm not young any more, and my memory fades...um, what was the topic? ;) ).

The ubiquitous Best Buy chain of electronics stores does not have any Canon lenses in stock - you have to order them in, it seems. Otherwise that would be a great place, since they are everywhere. I suppose you could place an order on-line from home as a "pick up in store", or if you are around long enough go in to a store when you first get there and pick it up after a few days. I personally would just go to Colonial Photo and Hobby, though, since they are priced equally, AFAICT.

Not sure about your port of entry in the US but you might want to check out the duty free shops!! Sometimes you get good deals. Be sure to check about international warranty.

If you have friends you could have them order for you and get it delivered at their place. There is a $100 rebate going on now-a-days.

This is a double post of sorts, I put this picture out in the kid's and family section.

I've been very pleased with this lens. This shot(est. 50% crop)taken with the 70-200 f/4.0 on a 60D. Originally I had the 70/200 f/2.8 IS vs. I but found it too heavy for me and most of my shooting with the lens was outdoors in good light.

I find the 70-200 f/4.0L IS to be very quick on the draw to gain focus...light and agile...a pleasure to shoot. :)

That was a great picture, and I couldn't agree with you more. I used mine yesterday shooting some wildflowers in the morning, then at my niece's graduation, and the lens is a pure joy to use. Easy to handle, not too big, and every time I upload a new batch of pictures I'm still surprised at the color and sharpness it gives me.

Try using center point focus and AI servo. The 5d isn't the greatest for flight shots, and the range may not be long enough unless the planes are close to you.

Just try using back button focus and follow the planes in the center (they most likely wont be going out of the frame or filling the whole frame, and the center of the image will be the sharpest, especially with a tc on the lens)

Hey all I'm really struggling to figure out if I want the 2.8 MkII or the F4. I have the money for either but the weight and size is what is throwing me off with the 2.8 but having the extra stop for low light if I ever need it would be nice but not a necessity because this is a hobby. I'm also gonna use a 1.4x extender on the lens if I need the extra reach. What do you all think.

I look at it this way...buy the f2.8 Mk II and give up going to the gym for weight training!

Seriously, the sharpness appears to be similar, so it's just a matter of picking between lighter and slower or heavier and faster. No-one else can make the choice but you.

You seem to know pros and cons of both. I can see how having the money to buy either could be making it more difficult to decide. But as Ricardo said, nobody can make the decision for you. All depends on knowing what kind of use you think you will put it to. If you don't know that, then I would have bought the f/4 and figured out if I missed something that the 2.8 would help me with and then invest more money!! My 2 cents, FWIW.

Here is a Slipknot inspired shoot. This was more of a 'rough draft' spur of the moment shoot. My friend, the model, has an idea for a more complex murder themed shoot soon using this mask. Eventually he wants to buy all of the Slipknot masks and do a shoot for each one. Let me know what you guys think!

I have no doubt I will! I went from looking at a 55-250 (or similar) to a 70-200 f4 non-IS, to buying a f4 IS :p

Judging from all the pics I've seen, it seems soo sharp, something I value the most! Also, it seems to be a tiny bit sharper than the f2.8, but who knows.. ?

It doesn't surprise me that such wonderful shots come from a Pink Floyd fan! But I'm impressed anyway.

Also at the irony...all those wind turbines to generate clean electricity....in a shroud of smoke...sublime but sad!

The lighting is so misterius and dark while still showing good levels of detail in the texture - almost looks like a very good studio set-up.

I should obviously add that I did some quick adjustments in ACR, then resize and save. But it's not that much for that result, which in itself is nothing short of awesome :D

Thanks! Yep, there is a person in that suit. This was taken during Star Wars Weekends at Disney World. The had various backgrounds set up for the characters, but this one was taken as Vader was walking through the park.

Anyway - the sharpness! I know I'm adding pretty uninteresting shots here, but I have never before been able to get a shot like this in dim lighting conditions. 175mm, f4.5 @ 1/5 sec, ISO 1600!

Agree, it is very sharp! Together with the lens, I'm just as impressed with the level of detail from the 550D. If these c-size sensors are this good, I can't wait to see what the next generation full sizes are going to be capable of!
