Just bought a 10d and think I should put a UV or Sunlite filter on the lens. I've read that I should put a circular polarized filter on it. Any suggestions?
thanks!

Many of us keep UV or skylight filters on our lenses for protection.

Others do not want to add another piece of glass to their lenses because of slight degradation of image quality and possible flair. They generaly rely on lens hoods to protect the front element of the lens.

Circular polarizers on the other hand have clear cut effects on images.
They reduce reflecions and darken skies.

Circular polarizers also reduce light by about 1 stop.

I think you should own both types of filters. But a circular polarizer will inprove certain images.

A polarizer filter is for special effects. It's not the kind of filter you'll want to leave on the lens all the time, to protect the lens.
