View Full Version : EFS 17-85 F/4 IS? Any chance?

It would be kind of like how the 24-105 and 24-70 compare but for crop cameras. It would be a really tempting alternative to the 17-55 f/2.8. I was out at the beach today shooting with my kit lens. I never felt once all day that I would be limited by f/4 as the widest and I definately could have used the extra reach a few times during the day. I love the width though, I could never live with 24mm as the widest on my crop camera.

not very likely considering you already have a 17-85 IS... if there's anything that will be released in that range it'll be more of a fast wideangle IS lens. along the lines of a 10-22 replacement. either that, or some sort of 22mm prime or 30mm prime made for ef-s (think 50 1.4/ 35 style). maybe a superzoom. other than that, ef-s doesn't really have many holes that need filling.
