I stopped by Samys Camera (Fairfax store) got to play with the Mk II a bit. Not much to say other than, I want mine NOW. I did ask the Canon rep if there was any new news on delivery/ship dates and the response was the standard "mid of April" kind of discussion.

I was pleased to see the commonality of the camera with its counter-part (1Ds). I am picking up my 1Ds on Tuesday. Hopefully by "mid April" I'll have 2 10D's for sale....

Heres the secret to getting both.....get your wife hooked on photography and then its like crack to a drug addict......Oh ya, and sell your soul.... But who needs a soul anyways, ever seen one?

She actually said " maybe I'll let you touch MY 1D MKII when it comes in...." This could be a mistake....but hey.....punish me more....

So what is the deal with Samys Camera/Canon? Seems my 1Ds which was supposed to be here Tuesday, got sold to someone else by accident. Samys got 28 1Ds's in and they are all gone in the first day (supposed waiting list). That sounds too quick to me. So far I've just gotten a bunch of double talk excuses about what happened. Has anyone else experienced something like this? If this is true, does Canon realize how much sales business they are losing?

Guess I "that" the one addicted to the Canon "crack".

Got my 1Ds from Samys in the northern part of southern california (Santa Barbara) didn't have any problems, also got my 1D from them about 18 months ago. Bought all my L glass from them as well. I think you guys in southern southern california are going to have to move north.

The guy now manages the Venice Beach store. In Santa Barbara I usually deal with a brazilian woman, name escapes me and I'm away from home now.

Samy's has corrected the situation. Albeit, its a few days late from the promised delivery, but I now have a 1Ds. For what its worth, the problem got resolved by a person named Michael who really seemed to have his collective stuff together when it comes to customer service. So now to get some time on the camera and get used to the form factor (as compared to my 10D).


Next stop, 1D MkII (last update was 10 May delivery from CDW)......come on canon, do us all a favor and do an early deliver to us..... everyone repeat this 10 times....
