Posted this on the landscape forum but it's sliding down the page with no feedback. Should've posted it here in the first place, lol

OK, shot in fairly low light cloudy conditions an hour or so before sunset. No special filters. 5D, 24-70 f2.8L, f8 @ 1/250, 70mm, ISO 400, hand held. It's a blend from the same shot to keep the foreground as I wanted it and to try to optimize the sky. The light through the clouds was very intense.

I've not tried to soften the bright light, yet it's still slightly mottly (only word I can think of) over toward the left. This is the best I felt I could do with it.

Suggestions?

Other than attempting the shot with a Tripod or Grad Density filter I can't see how you could improve on what you have there, its a nice shot. A nice medium between exposing for the ground and sky.

Have had a go at this in Photo shop see if you think its any better.
Have created 2 layers, made the clouds a little darker and boosted the contrast and blended it back on the bottom layer. Fiddled slightly with the curves and boosted the saturation. Finally used the burn tool a little on the clouds. (sounds like what you did just pushed it a little more)

Thank you Pete! It does look a bit better. I like the increased contrast in the foreground, particularly. Makes it pop a little more.

This was shot the same day as the last one I posted. It was my get out of the house 'cause I've been stuck in there for a week shoot, and other than having two cameras with me, I wasn't really prepared for it. :D Must've shot 80 frames in 45 minutes on the hill before I couldn't stand the coughing or the cold any longer. Lucky I got anything out of it, but I got quite a few I think.

Really appreciate your taking a look and having a go at improvements. I'll likely post some more from that day to see what you guys think!
Cheers,
Bruce
