Received a newsletter in the post this morning from http://www.theflashcentre.com/

It says:

Canon will launch a new DSLR after Focus (http://www.focus-on-imaging.co.uk/) and we are delighted to partner these launches in our regions - in London on the 6th March, Birmingham on the 15th and Leeds on the 22nd.

If you can't get to London on 6th March, the earliest alternative venue to see it will be the American PMA show which starts March 8th. Full details of the Canon Days can be found on our web site !

There are no details on the flash centre website that I can see yet.

I guess someone posted out these newsletters to customers a few days too early..... :)

A photo of part of the newsletter is attached.

Whatever the new model is, I want one..

Maybe only 1 will be launched here and then the rest will be launched at PMA?

I think so. Gotta save some thunder for the US. Afterall it's the biggest market.

Although Canon has the largest counter at the PMA, I don't think that they will have all the new DSLR up for us to see. Remember this... Canon not only make camera, they also make other things such as printer, copier, handycam, and etc. If we see only one DSLR camera at the show, I won't be suprised at all.

rather than at pma, canon would likely release it before focus... pro level cameras can wait a bit, since they usually don't hit the market right after the announce date, but prosumer models will need to be more relevant if they want to gain customers. if canon does release prosumer models, they will do so in the next two weeks... i still hope the old rumor of feb 21st tokyo time is true..

Official global announcement is set for Feb 22, Focus starts on Feb 23 and ends on Feb 25 even thought the new camera may not be able for viewing over there. March 6th is probably the official local launch by Canon UK and its dealers.

According to all the rumors/leak collected, the most possible schedule is:

- 1D MkIII & 40D for PMA
- 1Ds MkIII for Fallī07
- even a possible incursion in MF + new mount + new lenses (??) to be announced.
- A new flash + sync system
- New lenses, but there are speculations for all: 12-24 L, 400 DO IS, .....and bigger

I don't think Canon would tell them, hey, we are announcing three, or four, or five new bodies. Instead, they might allow them to say there would be one new release, or that tell your folks to come, we will be announcing a new body. I don't take this as proof there will only be ONE. I think we might be reading too mujch into just one ad. Maybe not, but I am betting there will be several announced within the next four weeks or so. Seems to me the 1DS would be a letdown for all, or most Canon customers, as it is the smallest demographic they have.
