I was taking pictures at the football yesterday in the pouring rain and (as well as getting soaked) got talking to a professional photographer who had a waterproof cover for each of his cameras and lenses.

He said they were from an Australian company and the covers were called Aqua Shield.

However, I have searched the net (and this site) and can find no trace of a company or product matching this name.

Can anyone point me in the right direction to buy these covers?

Another thumbs up for the Pelican. I've been using one in drizzle ridden Seattle for about 6 months and really like it.

Another you can look at is made by OpTech.

I'm sorry I can't give you info on AquaShield. I've never heard of them. Looks like the best we can do so far is give you ones we do know about.

i'm pretty sure the ones u mention are AQUAtech sports SHIELDS :D
the website is www.aquatech.com.au and i think they are sold in the states at penn cameras.
i have the ss200 model which i use in all weather to keep out the salt spray at the beach. they are really well made but they're not cheap. and u still get bloody wet when it rains!
cheers

If you dont have a giant lens to cover up...

I use a ziplock bag with a hole cut in the unlocking end that just stretches over the end of the filter. Its further secured with a rubber band to make sure it stays sealed.

Best if all you can get these materials at almost any store when you need them.

I have been looking at both the Tenba:

and the Pelican:

Both are reasonably priced so I can get two of them for when I'm using my 10D and D30 or 10D and EOS 3. I haven't decided which to get yet though. I used a unused plastic dog poop bag torn at the seams during the rainy times I shot last year, which worked pretty well. I laid it over the top of the camera and down the lens. As long as the wind wasn't blowing it stayed there most of the time. But this year I want to have something a bit more sophistacated... and less obvious at the dog shows I shoot at.

Has anyone used the Aquatech vertical? I have the Tenba 18 and it works fine horizontal but will not work vertical.

How long a lens can you use with the Pelican? I have a 120-300 2.8 and I dont think it is long enough for the Phat beast.
