Canon has dropped the "new" flag from the XTi on its web site, which must be a precursor of announcements coming soon.

No, it just means it's been out for six months or so and it's not so "new" any more.

yeah just means its not new out, dont panic. im sure if there is another camera on the horizon we will know about it soon.

Supposedly, there's been a "loose lip" website that updated it's camera images to include a spot for the 40D, (see dpreview forums) but the screen capture is obviously fake. (someone PS'd the 4's or used the wrong font) However, the website STILL has the spot for a new camera in place... who knows if it's true... could be screwin' with us... guess we'll see in a month or so. ;)
