After a long time of saving some money, in a few weeks I can finally buy a studio lightset with 2 x 600 w/s strobes but I have some questions.

1) What is better: 2 softboxes or 2 umbrella's or one softbox and one
umbrella for lighting in a small studio setup?

2) If a model is standing how high do the softboxes will have to be placed?

3) Is there someone who can point me to a good link/place where I can see a
typically light- and softbox/umbrella setup in a picture or diagram?

Thanks lon for the good advice.
Sorry for the many questions.
Thank you all for the help in advance.

The optimal softbox is as large as your subject. This allows you to move the softbox very close to the subject and still get full coverage. The closer the softbox is to the subject, the softer the light. This means that for full body shots of adult humans, the optimal softbox would need to be about 130 cm X 200 cm (a very large item).

This does not mean that you cannot use something smaller and still be very usable, but for maximum softness, the box should be as large as your subject.

Often compromises on size must be made due to the huge size of the optimal softbox.

Enjoy! Lon

You have a lot of questions. This approach often inhibits those that might answer, as a comprehensive answer would take pages of copy.

I suggest you parse your questions into smaller "bites" to encourage answers.

Enjoy! Lon

Thank you for the answer and the fact to get my questions in more threads.
I will edit the original post. I am so excited to finally be able to buy the lights
that I were carryed away ... :o :o :o
