who has one and do you enjoy it. are there any issues, can it perform like the 10D? I'm asking this cause as yall know the 10D starts at $1500/$1300 with no lens. A store here has the rebel on sale with 2 lens, I think she said Sigma lens and i don't remeber the sizes, but the rebel and 2 lens for 1500 which is a pretty good deal. I know of all the setup for both camera and I know the rebel doesn't have as much c0ntr0l as the rebel, but is it still a good camera.
Thanks

I have a Rebel and love it. Glad I saved the extra $500, so now I can buy some lenses. I would recommend it if your just starting out, you wont grow out of this camera that easily.. alot of great features, just not as durable as the 10D, but it is very durable if your not planning on dropping it from a cliff...
I'll give it 4-1/2 out of 5 shutters!

After doing a lot of thinking I bought the DRebel. It takes beautiful clean pictures. Metering and autofocus selections are moer restrictive than on the 10D, but it's digital, one can find his way around those limitations. By the way, is there any chance of a future firmware upgrade that makes more options available?
Before you buy the kit with Sigma lenses make sure that they are of reasonable quality (something tells me that they are not ;) ).

i agree with cgratti, the sigma lenses in the kits i've seen are low end.
if you could swing the 28-135IS Canon lens, you would be happy
for quite some time. it's about $499USD. that would bring the kit
price to about $1600, for the cam, 18-55, and the 28-135. i use the
28-135 alot on my Dreb.
thanks,

I just bought the Digital Rebel this weekend and I haven't been happier with a purchase.
I have been reading reviews, forums posts, and just about anything posted online about this camera for the last few weeks. There are going to be pros and cons for every camera, but I think the majority are happy with their decision on the Rebel. If you can afford the 10D with the lenses to get you started, then maybe that purchase would better suit your needs.
Whatever decision you make, make sure you commit to that decision. Regrets can become very expensive.

I have both the 10D and the DRebel. Other than the custom functions and a few other crippled specialty features already covered, it takes just as good a photo, which is to say great!
You will be very happy with your choice. Use the cash saved to buy some more lenses or a good printer.
Cheers,

Have a look at the review by DPReview (http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/canoneos300d/), they also compare it with the 10D.

EXTREMELY pleased with my 300D.
Yes the 10D would feel nicer and have some slightly better features but they get the same quality photo's-and THAT's all i care about

Forgot to mention lenses.
I see the others have been recommending you don't get cheap lenses.I agree heartilly BUT,there are some cheapies that do an extremely good job.
300D + good lenses..the cheap way to get the best images possible!! :)

thanks again everyone
yeah i konw i can't run with crap lenses
I went by and asked what lenes i do get in the rebel package and the guy explained the package a bit better. you get the rebel body and then you get to select other items such as tripod battery pack mem card.
but the 2 lenes package they offer is a 50-200 and a 18-55mm lens Sigmas. but he said I could choose from other lenes too. So i think i'm going to give this deal a try in a month or so. if i don't like the lenses I can always take them back and exchange them for others.
thanks for the help everyone

But if you do, you will void your warranty. If your camera is under the Canon USA warranty, it is one year. Just a reminder...

sounds like Sigma 18-50 and 55-200 two lens kit for Digital SLRs. B&H sells it for $239. You can buy the DRebel body for $900. What is the size of the memory card? It's relatively cheap anyway. It seems like they overcharge you a few hundreds.

i'm not sure but that's not all the stuff you get that's just some of the things you can get
you get to pick quite a few things i'm guessing whatever you can get to add up to 1500 bux
get lenses, card, tripod, extra batteries and what not you could get all lenses i think
will investagate more when it's time to buy
