I just got the el-cheapo 16-ch RF-616 E-Bay transmitter/receiver kit. This shot is of nothing important, just a test shot. I was lying on the floor and had the camera at floor level with my 430EX on it's base sitting on the ground next to me to my right. I bounced straight up to the ceiling with the flash on manual at 1/2 power. Results are promising.

Looks like that transmitter should do the trick! - btw, our kits are nearly identical, except the difference in brands of our mid and long tele's! and the flash! ^^

emtp563, do you have ramdon firing problem with the 430 EX? If not, which channel on the transmitter are you using?

Yes I did, big time. I solved the problem by changing the frequency. Switch over to 1=off, 2=off, 3=on, 4=off. I have not had a random fire since switcing to this channel. Let me know how you make out.

If these units are glitching due to interference I wonder if a simple filter could be modded. Hmmmm.

A simple mod would be to get an extension cable to increase the distance from the flash to the receiver to over 18" That soulution works as well.

That's exact channel I am using to cure the random firing on my EXs.
Robert, I read one guy use a osilloscope around the 430 EX, he found "leaks" from the capicitor through the bottom of the EX, as it's not EM shielded. That could be why lots people having problem with the shoe mount receivers(4 channels) with the EXs.
