I have had my 10D for just over two weeks now. This is my first camera thats not a point and shoot type. I have read the manual many times now and have learned alot from it. I've also been very pleased with the results so far but I'm curious what the pro's think of them. If you guys could comment on whats right and whats wrong with them. If you don't think there good I'd like to hear how I could improve on them. I'm not the type of person to take negative comments personally, so fire away. I'd just like to continue to learn more about photography since I'm having so much fun with it. Thanks!
The first image is of a friend of mine who saw some of my other pictures with the 10D and really wanted me to take some of her with her baby girl.

My critique is not intended to be negative, rather it is intended to be constructive. I'm going to restrict my comments to technical aspects of the photos as opposed to compositional elements.
The indoors and set up photos seem to be fairly well exposed. The "candid" portraits tend to range from somewhat overexposed to very overexposed. Some of this could be corrected to a large degree in Photoshop, but some have the highlights completely blown out. This suggests to me that they were shot in harsh mid-day sunlight. If you find yourself shooting under these conditions, get out of the sun. Find some open shade somewhere and use fill-flash. Better yet, wait until the last hour or so of daylight and use fill-flash or reflectors where needed. The photo of the the guy and girl could really use fill flash. It is strongly back-lit and the shadows across the faces are pretty harsh. A little flash would have opened those shadows up a little and sort of balanced the photo some, leaving the light in the girl's hair. The photo of the two little girls in the pink outfits is well exposed, but the background is too sharp and distracting. It would have helped to move them further from the background a few feet which would have blurred the background out effectively.
