Hi there,
I was cheking out http://www.canonians.com website and in the RAW section I discovered "Power Shovel 2" RAW converter which is apparently not based on canon's raw conversion dll and it's free.
Have you guys ever tested it ?
Thanks,
MikeG

I just installed and tried this. My opinion is don't bother.
1. The colours output were awful
2. there is very little control over the image
3. there is no preview (except your original image)
4. despite specifying that i wanted the image output as a jpeg the program made a tif and converted that to a jpeg
5. on install the program tried to overwrite windows system files

So, what is the best choice at the moment anyway?

For more control over the end product I would go for Photoshop CS

That seemingly very simple question has pages of response, with many different opinions. There are two major categories:
1. Uses Canon SDK
BreezeBrowser
Canon FVU
Canon DPP to be released with 1DMarkII.
2. Non Canon SDK
Photoshop CS
Capture 1 family (LE, Pro)
Most people seem to choose between BreezeBrowser, Canon FVU, or Capture 1. Some people have been unhappy with Adobe's conversion.
I use BreezeBrowser for it's accurate color, and ease of use.

I've never heard of BreezeBrowser. Is it the same as ZoomBrowser that came with EOS300D?

Has anyone tried ACDSee 6.0.3, it supports canon raw now.

No. BreezeBrowser uses the Canon conversion engine(SDK), but in a much more user friendly package. It is available for a 30 day free trial at www.breezesys.com

I use 5.0 and it works pretty good for converting & file management but I heard 6 was slow.If you try it let us know.

I would also be interested in knowing how it works too.
