I was thinking about applying at a few digital photography studios, so i can get some practice shoting people and get used to the basics of lighting and poses, im thinking that would be a good way to get used to studio equipment and people and prepare me for when im ready to start my own business.
I have no experience in photography, im currently in a photography class and a graphics design program so i am learning a lot. my question is what advice does anyone out there have for me as far as convincing a photographer to hire me without experience, what would they want to hear to give me a shot. i need a part time job so i would love it if i could find something in the photography industry, dont want to go back to customer service or warehouse. any advice?

If you are in a graphics design program, I would see if they offer credit for an intership/co-operative education programs. People seemed to be a lot more receptive to me when I was doing this and now I have an established relationship with them and do some assisting with them from time to time and will be working with them full time this summer (not paid unfortanatly but again as a for credit internship).

Also, on a side not since you are a student you may be eligible for discounts from some camera companies. I got a discount from Tamron on their 28-75, their MSRP is over $500 I got it for $315 after shipping.

Hope this helps
Jared

Show them your portfolio. If youre good and they need someone, they will be more likely to hire you if you show them your work and its good
